Bummah!
I was supposed to be in Austin this weekend, but Mother Nature got in the way. I was so excited to be there to surprise Alyssa -- and it didn't happen. Such a bummah, but there is nothing that anyone could have done to prevent or control it. So there's no use complaining about it.
So instead, I will post an embarrassing photo of the two of us... 'cause that's fun. :)

Woah, #1201
The good people at Blogger told me that my last post, the one from June, was my 1200th post. Sweet Jeebus that's a lot. I mean, not all of the posts were lengthy... most of them were dumb -- but still... 1200 posts is significant.

I don't have much to report right now. Matt's been home for the last week or so, and he leaves on Tuesday. Boo. But this time when he leaves, it's the last Avril run... So that's good. It's been a long two years out with her -- and I'm excited to have him home again. Let's just hope that he's able to find something local that doesn't involve traveling for months at a time. Ugh. I'm ready for this travel-craziness to be over and done with, thank you very much.

Speaking of traveling -- I've got a good number of trips coming up that I'm quite excited about... There's Secret Trip in September, then The Vineyard with Jen and Jessica the next weekend, then Boston to see Liz two weeks after that, then Houston to see Aimee, Cathy and their new babies (not with each other... with their husbands... but you know what I mean), then a little break -- and then to CABO for New Year's! Can't wait! ;)

The Tony's
I like the theater... but I wouldn't consider myself a theater person.
When I was little, my parents would get season tickets to Jones Hall, which is where the travelling shows would come when they came to Houston. (It all started 'cause my mom wanted to see Phantom the first time it came to town). So we sat through good plays and not-so-good plays ("Once on this Island" anyone?... ugh... horrible)

And as much as I love the thrill of Broadway -- it's kinda difficult and a pain in the ass -- unless you've got your parents to do the work for you.

Matt and I don't really go to the theater. Not 'cause we don't want to, but because it requires forethought. And you work as long and as hard as we do, it's tough to be good as forethought from a personal-life perspective. (THIS is why I was horrible at planning my wedding).

So anyway -- I digress...

Since my parents have been living here, I've gone to see a bunch of plays. I ended up seeing many of the plays nominated for "Best Musical" and "Best Revival - Musical". Watching the Tony's this year was actually fun. I cared who won... I had a vested interest... I had SEEN the plays.

Good times!

I highly recommend "Passing Strange" and "In the Heights" -- both are amazing, with awesome sound tracks.

I don't think that was dedaf
It's 1:20 in the morning and I am wide awake.
WIDE
The last time this happened, I was doing high-kicks at 3 in the morning, singing about how I couldn't go to sleep.
That's not nearly as fun when you're home alone and don't have anyone to annoy. Tee hee hee...

I brought my computer home with me this weekend, so I did a little work, which is dumb, but also made good use of my time. But now I want to go to sleep... and can't.
Urgh... so annoying.

Let's hope that this week isn't as nutty as last week was. It's crazy how your plans can get derailed by one seemingly simple request. Matt's coming home six days early, which I am quite excited about... so hopefully there won't be too much to keep me at work late this week.
